Friends (17)About Me
I recently graduated from The Art Institute of California-San Francisco, achieving my BFA in Fashion Design. While attending art school I was fortunate enough to study a semester in Milan Italy. While I was abroad I was able to attend Milan Fashion Week and visit Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, along with all the other major cities in Italy. I feel that living abroad for that time opened my eyes to a more global sense of the fashion community.
During my studies at school I was recognized for my work, not only academically, for maintaining a 3.6 gpa, but also for my designs. In this way I received 3 of the 5 awards annually given at the school fashion show in 2005 for, Best Day Wear, Best Construction, and Most Innovative. I have also shown collections in San Francisco Fashion Week in 2004 and 2006. I have concluded three internships while studying. The first was at Mulberry Neckwear, which is the second largest tie design company in the United States. Mulberry is responsible for designing and producing ties for such lines as BCBG, Ben Sherman, Kenneth Cole, and Claiborne amongst others. The second was with Couture SF, in which the owner/designer's first job out of fashion school was with Christian Dior, followed by Jean Paul Gaultier, she also worked for Nicole Miller in New York before moving to San Francisco and starting her own company. The last internship was with Porto llc., to help develop the clothing line Zoom. Porto llc. in itself is a fashion importer of Italian clothing, and the husband and wife team wanted to create a line that was inspired by the Italian style they have been importing, but patterned to fit a woman in the age block of 45-65. The line used a lot of A-symmetry and knits, to construct comfortable, practical, and yet still interesting clothing. Before ever attending fashion school some of my friends and I created a clothing line called Advanced Mammal. It was an urban inspired, screen printed clothing line, mostly T-shirts and hoodies, which involved collaborations with graffiti artists and photographers who worked in the realm of city landscapes. Advanced Mammal also got involved with developing logos and designs for bands and other smaller companies of many genera's. In my last semester I began designing men's urban ready to wear with a start up cut and sew line called D-Structure, based in San Francisco. Here I gained professional experience creating a line, form development of image to designs, onto creating spec sheets and technical flats. Upon graduation I moved home to Hartford, where I became the Assistant Designer at Rebecca Reinbold Couture in West Hartford. Here I got to exercise hands on experience draping, pattern drafting, and sample dewing. Since moving to New York I have begun work in costume design mostly for film and work in styling. Both of these avenues are the areas I want to pursue and have married strongly together. I wanted to join this site to network within my passion of the fashion world. To have easier access to associated talent within the realm of fashion design, such as models, photographers, and hair and makeup stylists. I hope that this site can help me find willing talent to collaborate for unique fashion related projects, helping to expose all of our talents to the world.
