About Me

I’m a photographer.
I like to photograph.
I’d like to photograph you.
I’d like to photograph your face
Or your hands, your feet, your back
Your knees…or your soul.
I’d like to photograph you in
A bright frock, in a funny hat,
In a wooden box, in a creek - or naked.
I’d like to photograph you with a friend
Your’s, mine, whatever.
I’d like to photograph you in the way
That you’d like to be photographed
Because I like to photograph.
I’m a photographer.

I'm a writer, photographer and teacher. I have established a studio space in the hills east of Melbourne to sharpen my studio skills and as premises for my professional writing and commercial photography work. I work as a journalist, advertising copywriter and science writer as well as a commercial photographer.
I write and shoot for a major Australian photography magazine (Digital Photography + Design) and shoot for personal pleasure - and the challenge. I enjoy non-commercial styles; anything with a little attitude, unless I have a specific assignment. I also like classical styles of photography and developing creative projects. I really enjoy working on concepts that have a little theatre to them - images that tell a story of some kind so if you have a great idea, talk to me about turning into an image. I like the work of people like Rankin myself (http://www.rankin.co.uk) and usually have a couple of art projects in progress - such as setting up John William Waterhouse pre-Raphaelitre style images.
I also practice and promote Ethical Nude Photography - details here -

I'm interested in working with people who have a thoroughly professional approach and I'm always happy to do TFP work with suitable models who are looking to expand a portfolio and can help build mine by expanding my repertoire.

I've come to realise over the last twenty years or so that the best and last subject for a photographer is the human face and body. In the end, it all comes down to people; the photographers I truly admire are those who capture something essential about the human spirit and condition.

The full details of the operation and some recent work are on my website for the studio.

So stand on the sweep right there
Backlight in your hair and now
Move left a little, lightly.
No - not two metres, slightly!
Now up and to the right
(It's not enough to slump, and stare)
Er... the other right
And if you dare
I wonder if we might
Use some motion, with emotion,
Twirl and smile, now there's a notion.
Can you spin or jump or tease?
Don't tear the paper if you please!

Yes. The studio is cold, in winter
And hot in the summer.
Look on the bright side -
Goose bumps add texture
To the skin in black and white
While sweat can look shinysexy
In the right light...
