About Me

Freddie Star story begins on May 1st, 1975; When Freddie was born to a single parent who raised two young boys on her own. His mother had her share of problems as she struggled to impart a moral and spiritual foundation to her sons. Freddie would certainly experience the everyday crisis of his urban environment, but the strength of his mom was important in forming his vision and drive....
Freddie has had his share of ups and downs; He's no stranger to failure. He's hung out with the wrong crowd and done some things that have led him down the wrong road. He spent some of his youth incarcerated, which both took him away from, and strengthened his dream. He might have fallen by the wayside, but an inner power rooted in spirituality (Mom again) protected him from people, places and things that have taken so many down.
Freddie's life consisted and revolved around hanging out with the wrong crowd, as he himself remembers this time:
“I was known as the best booster in Brooklyn. I mean, I
Really had my game down packed. When you saw me, I
Was the flyest thing you could lay your eyes on.  I had
A mean show game, everything from suede to leather. My
Color scheme was so unique: the way I matched my stitching
From the inseam to match something so simple as an
Accessory or hat. I mean really a knack for this thing”

And his friends loved that, because Freddie was a very good style sharer. In those days
He would lend you anything from coats to sneakers and with his own style points to go
With it. Freddie dressed his friends the way he dressed himself. He was in the process of
Learning and creating, and being unselfish with his friends found him his first set models
Allowing him to demonstrate his talent and put it out there for the public.
Freddie started putting pieces together in 1998 at a time when the fashion look
Was increasingly urban and streetwise. He put different looks together that blended a
High-end style with the sleek, functional look from the street. His incarceration time
Taught him thrift: to multi-function, reclaim, and to restore clothing. He began to feel a
Demand for his style that translated into setting trends for the urban community.
This period changed his perception about how he viewed fashion. He realized he
Was doing things that hadn’t been tested, and the reaction was positive and encouraging.
He would take simple things such as sweatshirts and pants and reconstruct them to his
Liking. He had kept his mother’s faith and turned a negative situation into a positive one.
Serious Angels encamped around him, because with the help of his brother
Becoming an actor, Freddie began to land jobs in television and on movie sets. Freddie worked on He got game with Spike Lee, New York Undercover, And Third Watch. It was great time for Freddie because he obtained a little more industry know-how. He also began to experience a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
Believe it or not, with the help of these jobs Fredrick started to walk and talk differently and a new elegance found its way into his sense of style. He was blending his
Streets sensibilities with a sort of funked-out and energized Ralph Lauren look and the feedback was building his confidence.

Freddie couldn’t stop there, because Freddie is an extremist. He wanted to branch out on his own: to start running his show. He changed his name to Freddie Starr, his first step to finally begin to promote himself. He put himself anywhere and market wherever he felt he needed to be, he was. He learned how to network and market himself as a stylist, just like in the old days when he was both boosting and making and selling his own merchandise.
Now his style choices were assured and confident. He dressed some big names, worked within the industry and met the rigors and demands of an informed clientele. He caught the eye of Renee Lewis, Who allowed him to assist on her shows. (Enyce, Roca Wear, Fubu, Ecko, and a few new designers.) Freddie Star’s next mentor was Kia Jeffery
Around the U.S.A and to the islands, giving him more experience to draw upon.
Freddie is now working toward developing his contacts, (Foxy Brown, Sonia Blade, and Flip Mode Squad) and also developing a spiritual character that allows him to progress toward his goals as a stylist while coming to terms with his past. His past is
Something he wants to keep in front of his successes, staying ever mindful of the correct
Path in the eyes of his god. Freddie Star’s career path is directed toward becoming a
Celebrity stylist and in every way the position fits his persona.
Freddie has caught the industry’s eye. They now know him as Freddie Star, and he is on the rise. He knows he’s paid his dues, so now he’s coming to stake him claim. His career path is directed toward being a celebrity stylist and this exciting young man is one that the industry has been waiting for…..
