Aso Damisi (ah-SHAW DAH-me-see) is a new clothing line created by 2 sisters, Moriamo and Latifat, looking to increase the popularity of African inspired wear in the US apparel market. Waxprint fabrics, which come in an array of colors, are intricately fused with cottons and silks for Aso Damisi's creations.
The wax print fabrics, primarily worn by Africans, actually originated from the Dutch. Waxprint fabrics have gained such popularity in Africa that it has become the major part of traditional wear. Aso Damisi is looking to have Americans embrace wax prints too. The line is designed for women who are not afraid to step out in something vibrant, colorful and fresh.
Aso Damisi launches their first season for Spring/Summer 2011. The line will be sold in different boutiques across the country. We will immediately follow with the Fall 2011 collection and continue for seasons to come.
