About Me

First things first, I am excited to be part of the MM Community and look forward to contributing and learning all I can in a positive, wonderful, results-producing way!

My name is Craig Burgwardt and I am a veteran fine artist and graphic designer/creative director residing in Waynesville, NC. I have an extensive background in virtually all design aspects, coupled with an above-average understanding/intense interest in photography. The current contents of my portfolio consist solely of sessions I've done since I started shooting people in June of 2014.

To date, I have utilized most of my experience shooting product, wildlife, landscape, family/friend's portraits and traditional, everyday digital photography as reference for my paintings/prints. As a fine artist and also an admirer of the human form, I've always wanted to try my hand at bringing out the best in a person either through my painting or from behind the lens.

I've been photographing people as the main subject matter for about 4 years now. It will continue to be a process, as everything is, but as long as I learn from each session, I believe I will grow in style, content and experience.

Currently, I charge very reasonable rates for my artistic and photographic abilities and the resulting images are getting people where they want/need to be in this industry. Rates will continue to increase as I gain more experience, BUT, if anybody is as interested in gaining or lending experience in front of the lens on a trade or TF (Time For) basis, we can discuss those possibilities. As long as I get a signed model release and we can add quality images to our books, I'm all for that option! I will photograph you, your senior portrait, your pets, you and you pets, your product or marketing collateral, your antique car or your home/real estate that you wish to sell. FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME IF INTERESTED.

I'm passionate about continuing to learn this craft and producing a quality product in a low-stress situation doing something I really enjoy with people who make it fun! I want smiles all the way around when a session is done. I will gladly accept constructive criticism and advice from experienced models, then I will apply it in everybody's best interest ... quality images that create a win-win scenario for both parties involved. In turn, I will probably add my .02 worth from a design/content/composition standpoint, having spent six years in front of the lens, I'd like to think I know what I'm doing.

For your comfort during female modeling sessions, I strongly encourage you to bring an escort on the shoot, but please, no significant others unless we happen to be shooting a scheduled engagement/couples/maternity session. Photographers and models are artists, and creative ideas and visions need to remain between the two parties involved with no outside involvement/opinions from those wishing to suggest how to do my job.

As a model, it is your responsibility to check references. I have various recent (local) references/clients and multiple MM member shoots to date, with VERY positive results, with the word "professional" coming up time and again in my reviews. Upon request, I would be happy to share their contact info upon request.

All I ask is for you to work WITH me, share some of your knowledge, I'll share some of mine, we'll have some fun and hopefully, together, we can produce some great images for our books. I am here to learn more about shooting technically correct, compelling and beautiful images.

I also do digital photo manipulation, retouching, logos, graphic design and illustration, so if anybody gets in a bind, let me know. I'm a seasoned art director and know my way around a product/lifestyle shoot as well.

I travel to Las Vegas, NV, Hartford, CT and North Myrtle Beach, SC twice per year, each, and would make myself available for local TF shoots.

If anybody has any questions I can help answer, or any comments that contribute to me becoming a better photographer, please feel free to contact me.

Just a sampling of what a local model, Kayla Burrell, whom I recently photographed had to say:

"Craig Burgwardt is one of the most professional photographers I have ever worked with. He has very good etiquette and is always friendly mannered. Not only that, but he knows how to get the job done! Craig knows exactly what to do to get the perfect shot. We definitely got some amazing shots to add to my portfolio! I truly enjoyed my photo shoot with him and I would definintely recommend him to anyone that needs to have quality images done!"

Life is short ... sometimes you just got to stop, smell the roses and shoot some photos!

Thanks in advance!
