About Me
CHECK OUT A VIDEO ON SEVERAL MAKEUP TRAININGS WITH THIS LINK.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2Z3gndTpiU Interested Artists can contact me at [email protected] for details. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been doing makeup for 31 years and continue to work as well as test when time allows keeping my portfolio images current. I have worked in T.V., print and runway with designers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Richard Tyler, Gianfranco Ferre', and Christian Dior. I am always seeking models to test with to emulate editorial type shoots from Vogue, Zink and W, etc. I'm a formally trained makeup artist. (Not just a girl who used to work at a mall!) My focus is Beauty and Fashion Print makeup for editorial and/or commercial work. I also have done and will do television, music videos, infomercials, etc. Ive been training makeup artists from all over the world for over 21 years. So if you need a good makeup artist, regardless if it is in Southern California, any state in the USA or even other countries. Just contact me with the details and I will do my best to refer you to someone in your area. Besides having talent and experience, I have an extremely high level of professionalism and ethics. If I accept a booking; first of all, I will show up NO MATTER WHAT and I will be on time if not early. I honestly have no tolerance for the flakes in the industry that cancel or no show completely unaware of anyone but themselves. I am prepared for just about anything you can throw at me and will surprise you by being McGyver to create anything that I don't have. My mantra is: You are only as good as your last shoot which keeps me on my toes. I always look at the at the big picture and will go above and beyond the call of duty to get the best shot for everyone involved, especially on a test shoot. I realize that a test is a donation of everyone's time and often the best image possible is COMPLETELY different in most cases for the makeup artist, hairstylist, photographer, wardrobe stylist, and the model. (a special thanks to all the photographers that have actually written to me thanking me for enlightening them to this fact that somehow escaped them previous to reading it here.) Therefore,... ***If you're a Photographer that refuses to give a disk(s) of images to the crew from a test and just give everyone a couple of images that YOU like the best, due to being (PLEASE SELECT ONE: Close-minded, Selfish, Egotistical, God Complex, Lazy) I'm really not interested in working with you. Unless your name is David La Chapelle, Steven Meisel, etc. then I'll certainly be more tolerant. Additionally, For all the Photographers who "think they rock" at Photoshop, please understand and acknowledge the fact that that what is "acceptable" photo-shopping for a Photographers book is often not acceptable for a makeup artists book. I know that you've got skills and have probably even had people compliment you on your retouching in YOUR book. But in the makeup industry, even semi-obvious photo-shopping makes Agents, clients, Art Directors, etc. wonder how bad was the makeup. There is a huge amount of over edited images on this site. In my opinion there's an entirely new genre out there of photographers that should be classified as going after the "cartoon effect" The human face is a 3 dimensional object. Over editing where natural shadows from facial curvature of the face are removed as well as mega skin blur really only points out that you need to master lighting and or work with better models. I train makeup artists from all over the world. (As long as they speak English) My goal is to improve the QUALITY of makeup artists, not the quantity. In addition to teaching the "Art and Science" of makeup, I do my best to teach my students ethics, professionalism and marketing so that they can replace today's stereo-typical, flaky, so-so talented, ego the size of Texas (for no reason) artists out there who give those serious about makeup a bad name! Check out my schools web site at http://www.EmpireAcademy.com My artistry rates are $2.500. a day. $1,500 for 1/2 day (4 hrs) If you arrange a shoot at my studio (6,000 square ft.) I can provide 3-4 makeup/hair & wardrobe changes for $1,100 and $100 studio rental fee for photographer.
