My name is Shontae. A Brooklyn-born Taurus, I am the mother of three girls, a wife, a professional photographer, a licensed bartender, and a graduate from cosmetology school. I recently moved from New Jersey, now living in North Carolina.


I started doing photography as the person who was always behind the camera at every event, every function, catching those candid moments and memories. My husband encouraged me to pursue it as a hobby, to see how far I could go and how much I could learn. He is my biggest fan and greatest supporter and motivator.
I love being a photographer. I love to learn new things every day; with photography, I have found that there is always something new, or something different to learn every time I take a photo.
I do not photoshop or do any kind of 'professional editing". I try to get the best picture straight out of the camera instead. I inform anyone who wants to do a shoot with me that I do not photoshop my work. I do, however, know how to do simple editing. A tweak here, tweak there.
I welcome you on my journey to becoming a better photographer.

**The name Element 51 came from the periodic table. The symbol is SB, which are my initials. The fifty-first element is antimony, which means never alone. Because I am and choose to only surround myself with love and support from the best of family and friends, It seemed like it was a perfect match. Without my true friends and awesome family, I wouldn't be able to keep moving forward as I have.
