Mayhemers. Thank you for welcoming me. All of you. It takes a collective to build greatly, and much like my humble beginnings as a photographer, your visions are why we are here.
I have always had a ton of potential, in many areas. One close to me understood this reality and welcomed me into her world of eclectic artistry. Feeling stifled by life and wanting to just have fun being with someone who relates to me, I found myself one day in a movie theater, with only my cell phone and money in my pocket, accompanied by her wearing a giant yellow ball dress, a pair of roller skates and perfect makeup. Yes I was like what is going on with you, but she, so beautiful in her outfit that afternoon, wanted us to have an impromptu photo shoot, with my cell phone, in the theater, and it was freaking poppin from the JUMP. I guess I should also mention how fun and liberating it felt to be creative, so we did this about every 2 or 3 days out of the week for about a year, and then boom: I have a muse.
So I got a little more serious. My focus has shifted from the way I use to be. Previously, I had a goal to become a film maker, as a writer, not a camera guy, and not an editor. Naturally, creation comes easily to me through literature. Something I never really fleshed out into being, was the fact that visually I had talents too. Through applying previous theoretical concepts of framing and lighting and shooting to whatever device I had, point and shoot, tablet, I saw the potential to make an investment in DSLR Cameras, Lighting, Backdrops, Reflectors, Tripods. Once the science of shooting with professional cameras became clear to me, 1/10th of my profession became clear. It became clear that I was a photographer.
