I’ve taken photographs for most of my life, but other than family photographs, my interests have always been in the fields of landscape, architecture and wildlife.
Last year however, I spent nine months in hospital and I started “people watching”. It sharpened my appreciation of life and I saw a beauty in people who may not perceive themselves as being classically or fashionably beautiful. Once out of hospital I began photographing anyone who would pose for me and I found the change and the challenge very rewarding.
The bug has bitten and I've now invested in additional photographic equipment and set up a small studio and I’ve decided that I'd like to work towards making the switch from photography as a hobby to that of a career before it’s too late in life to take the risk.
In terms of working with models I'm gradually becoming more experienced and comfortable in the role with a good few shoots under my belt and I've just completed a charity "Calendar Girls" shoot involving 12 models ranging from teens to 60's but I'm constantly looking for new ideas and challenges. With my previous interests, I particularly like to shoot with models using strong landscape or architectural settings.
While I develop as a photographer I’d mainly be interested in working with models on a TFP basis but I may employ models for particular projects that I feel will develop my skills.
