Photography comes from the combination of the Greek words φῶς (phos) which means “light” and γραφή (graphé) which means 'representation by means of lines' or 'drawing'. Combining the two Greek words into the word 'photography' is intended to give the meaning of 'drawing’ or ‘painting with light'. Without shadows and darkness we could never understand light. Photography is an amazing and unique art medium. It allows us a means to convey thoughts and ideas in expressive and creative ways which cannot be recreated any other way. It can force us to see the real world in different and new ways, even people and places we pass by every day. Through photography, I have discovered the world is a place of endless possibilities.
