PHILOSOPHY   I have loved photography ever since I picked up my first Kodak 120 film camera at the age of 9. What I have always liked is the feeling of capturing something special in the people I photograph. Their untold stories, happiness, sorrow, hopes and dreams might be missed by the naked eye, but through my lens they are amplified.Photography is like meditation to me.It keeps me centered      
and calm. Capturing the raw essence of the subject and the natural beauty of people gives me solace and lets me push beyond my personal boundaries.There is no other way that I’d rather spend my time.

 

STYLE               Portraiture and Editorial in fashion.


TECHNIQUE      Work with a Digital format Canon 5D or 35mm film in color or black and white. My photographs are usually produced enlarged so I can see every detail and tonal range on Epson Luster Roll paper.
                           


BACKGROUND  I was raised by my single mother June Brusche in New York along with my younger brother Akeem. Growing up with a West Indian background, I had dreams of working in the creative industry, whether it was singing, dancing, or acting. The reality of those industries was to harsh, but  I still wanted to express myself creatively. I finally found photography. Leaving my family for school was a difficult choice and juggling academics with two jobs, has been difficult  at times. Balancing my obligations to my family with my hopes for my future has pulled me in various directions. I had the opportunity to immerse myself in other interests. I noticed major shifts in fashion and hip-hop, a combination of styles that reflect a new era. Old school movements becoming new again, breaking barriers and becoming reflected in main stream society. I finally found  a way to fuse together my love of music, dance, fashion, and pop culture, with my new love of photography, igniting my passion once again.
