Marc Blackie is an English photographer turned filmmaker whose short films and images inhabit a world of sexually charged existentialism and have been described as “Jarringly combining eroticism with the uncomfortable and sinister” by the New York Magazine.

His work has been featured on Nick Knight’s ShowStudio, with exhibitions and screenings around the globe leading to several awards, including Best Experimental Film for ‘Fucking Doesn’t Help’ at Hong Kong’s Third Culture Film Festival and Best Director at the London 2019 LFFF.

Largely shot on vintage lenses, lovingly restored and adapted by himself, his often controversial output is never happier than when poking fun at the ridiculousness of the human libido and what passes for our collective sexual imagination.  He is as likely to be inspired by Japanese erotica as by the likes of Bataille, Bergman and Bellmer as well as the long shadow cast by the surrealist movement.
