About Me

About the Photographer... Douglas M. Nelson specializes in headshot photography for actors, musicians, comedians and other industry professionals. Also an actor, he has appeared in 28 TV shows and Films... (my IMDb page). Douglas has been shooting Headshots for actors, movies, television, and stage, over his 30 year+ career... He is constantly striving to bring out the inner beauty of everyone he photographs. Your Headshot is your one chance to show casting directors that "You Are The One" for the job... Achieving this, in your headshot, is very important for actors who want to have that cutting edge with the people that are making the decisions. "The Eyes are the Windows to the Soul". Using this philosophy, Douglas elicits emotions and/or moods that seem to reveal the real person inside...all the while, remembering the business of "making you look your best". It is critical that your shots truthfully represent you, as well as showing your true versatility as an actor...men and women alike. His unique style of photography captures that special quality that is in every client. Keeping the focus on the eyes in every photo, his work communicates with agents, casting directors, and others in the industry. Many of his clients have booked jobs, and/or representation, shortly after shooting. Whatever you want to convey, Douglas will capture it with his unique vision.

His Style... Your Headshot is the first impression that you have to show casting directors that "You Are The One". Achieving this in your headshot is most important for actors who want to have that cutting edge with the people making the decisions. "The Eyes are the Windows to the Soul." Using this philosophy, Douglas elicits emotions and/or moods that seem to reveal the real person inside... all the while, remembering the business of "making you look your best". It is critical that your Headshots truthfully represent you, as well as showing your true versatility as an actor. His unique style of photography captures that special quality that is in every client. Keeping the focus on the eyes in every photo, his work communicates with agents, casting directors, and the decision makers of the industry. Many clients have booked jobs and/or representation, shortly after shooting... Whatever you want to convey, Douglas will capture it with his unique vision. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.

The Shoot... UPDATE! Douglas has added Green Screen technology to his studio… There is no longer a need to travel to locations. They can now come to you! Putting you in any one of over 750 locations, as well as traditional backdrops... The possibilities are endless! The background can also be darkened and lightened to enhance the mood. Most importantly, the distance and perspective can be adjusted to totally control the narrative...

When you arrive, Douglas will go over your choices for each look, or what is commonly known as a wardrobe change + Background set-up. He shoots approximately 25 images for each look. This is to achieve the best interpretation of you. Whatever you want to convey, Douglas will capture it with his unique vision. You will be able to review your images on a 40" 4K LED TV screen. This gives you the opportunity to review and make adjustments, immediately. An Online Gallery of your shoot will be provided for a full month, to review your images. This enables you to send them to your Agent, Manager, friends & family, and others who can assist you in the very important decision of choosing the best image(s) to represent you.

What to Wear... With a private Dressing & Make-up room, it is suggested that you bring several styles of wardrobe (Business, Elegant, Casual, Sporty, Edgy, etc.). Having several choices in each style is recommended. Colors are not a problem. They often enhance the mood. It is advised to stay away from prints or patterns. Coats, jackets, and sweaters are beneficial for that layered look. T-shirts that have a textured style can also work. Collared shirts often give more definition to a look, though. Jeans or slacks may be brought (to enhance a certain look). Jewelry is not recommended. The most important thing is to be comfortable.
Consultations are free... However, should the client wish to schedule a shoot for a later date, a $100.00 deposit (non-refundable) will be required to secure the booking... The deposit will be applied to the total. All bookings made using PayPal™, should be made 7 days prior to the scheduled booking. Arriving 30 minutes late to the shoot, without calling, will result in the loss of the "free" retouches. If the client should reschedule or cancel, less than 48 hours prior to said booking, the client will lose their deposit. Retouches included in each package will expire 30 Days from the Shoot Date.
