About Me

**Due to the COVID situation, with insecure work and unstable income, I will pause on doing any portrait photography until my circumstances improve.**

I have a long and diverse experience in the photographic industry since late 1990s when film was still popularly used. I have a solid understanding of photographic principles and technicalities, strong interest in photographic technologies, and also a good appreciation for creative concepts and imagery.

Beginning in Singapore as a self-employed photographer doing events, weddings and on-location portraits, I moved to Australia to finish a degree in engineering. I worked as a studio portrait photographer and a photo-finishing lab technician, then a customer service representative selling a wide range of studio equipment providing product and technical advice to professional photographers, and later, a technician for 8 years repairing/modifying mostly Canon digital cameras and lenses in Australia's largest camera repair company.

My picture ideas/themes change with season and time, and I may juggle a few at a time. Unlike many other male photographers, I do not only photograph women, and give you an excuse why I exclude men. I strive for diversity in my images, practice for improvement and expansion in my skills, and try to step out of my comfort zone to do different themes/genres with people of different backgrounds and talents.

Everyone starts from being a nobody, and I am happy to work with amateur or beginner models which I have done so several times. If your profile is full of self-captured mobile phone selfies, requesting only paid work is unrealistic. Experienced models with a good portfolio may rightfully command a fee.

I visit Singapore once every 1 to 2 years, and will strive to do photo shoot with models who are suited to my current ideas/themes.

I believe conservatism retards progress and fear stops advancement. Unlike many of my Asian peers, I am powered by an open mind, and driven by forward thinking. I seek models who are bold, creative and liberal. If you share a similar positive attitude, I look forward to hearing from you. For peace of mind, I have no objections with models bringing a chaperone but will not pay any costs involving the chaperone.
