Friends (61)About Me
I have been a performance artist for most of my adult life. During that time, I loved doing my own makeup - it was a fantastic creative outlet and icing on the cake in my life as a performer. I was often asked to do makeup on fellow performers, and mostly, I refused, as it was a very personal, almost meditative part of my prep as a performer. However, in the last couple of years, I started to see makeup in a new light. I stopped looking at makeup only as a foil to a performance, but as part of the daily art of living a joyful and creative life. I started to embrace the art of enhancing the beauty in each indiividual - and from there, began to draw a great deal of inspiration and happiness.
Enter: my life as a makeup artist. Part I: Building my Portfolio At this time, I am lucky enough to be working with a few very talented photographers on a regular basis. So I am not in need of many new TF shoots, unless there are credited tear sheets involved, or unless the photographer is extraordinarily talented and the concept is extremely enticing (to my aesthetic sensibilities) and well-organized. It helps, too, if there are talented wardrobe and hairstylists in addition to agency repped/quality models. Please be advised that I do arrive at every shoot with a set-chair, glamcor light kit, 6-outlet surge protector, and full makeup kit. When needed, I also bring my hair kit and or set bag. Part II: All other Makeup/Hair I offer half and full day rates, which include all offered services (makeup and hair) for the duration of the time I am contracted. My preferred technique for foundation is airbrushing. I carry both water based and silicone based airbrush makeup, and I use a portable compressor, which is convenient when outlets are not available. I do have an additional set bag, which I use for on-location shoots/on set. Feel free to contact me for more information. I will also be offering makeup packages on a new website geared towards private makeup services (as opposed to commercial/professional freelance services).. I'll update my profile when the new site goes live. Hair services: This includes simple updos; the very trendy finger-combed soft curled look; glamourous brushed out curls; straightening; or any types of curls from tight tapering spirals to loose waves. I have several irons of varying szes in my hair kit (which is a separate, complete kit that I bring when I know that I will be working on hair). I am also studying vintage styles, more complex updos and other specialized styling techniques. I will continue to update my profile as my skill set increases. Bodypainting: I am beginning to study bodypainting, and will likely be adding it (at a basic level) to my available services at some point this year. *One Very Important Note: I am extremely OCD about sanitization. For makeup, I use Beauty So Clean sanitizing sprays for pressed powders and wipes for pencils and other solid makeup products. I also use isopropyl alcohol spray to clean all surfaces and alcohol wipes to clean eyelash curlers, tweezers, scissors used to trim brow hairs or false eyelashes, etc. I own 3 full sets of makeup brushes for jobs on multiple models, and I clean the brushes in between models with brush sanitizing cleaners. For my hair kit, I use Barbicide to clean brushes, combs, etc. after each use. *Also of note: I use a lavender essential-oil hand sanitizer by Essential Organics. If you have any allergies to essential oils, please let me know and I can switch to a different brand of hand sanitizer. ******************* Contact information: It is easiest to reach me through email, as I am often able to access emails when I am not able to pick up the phone. Messaging through this website will also reach me quickly, but once we've established a relationship, email is always going to be quicker, since I don't have to log into MM on my phone everytime I need to check a message. :) ******************* Beyond that I would just say that I am truly reveling in this path that I am on. Finding beauty in each person and experience is something that I focus on, both in this business, and as a general motto for living life. I am not a prima donna and I do have a really strong work ethic, and I imagine that I may be rather pleasant to work with. :) Verified Credits (0)Worked with Isabelle Kai?
