About Me

Update: 06/17/16

In order to focus on building my portfolio and to better accommodate a NYC-based shooting schedule, I'm happy to announce that I will be subletting an apartment in Manhattan and spending this summer in the city (length of time to be determined, but for now at least through July 15 confirmed) and will be taking as many bookings as I can.

If we have been unable to work together at any point in the past due to my health or scheduling/location conflicts (or if we've planned to shoot again), please get in touch with me so we can make something happen this time!

To help with my expenses while I'm here - and to cover the cost of our glass furnace which is off during the months of June and July (my partner and I are glassblowers upstate which is my "real life" job) - I would prefer to make paid shoots a priority, but my main focus is on enhancing my portfolio, so I'll always take on TF shoots for the right concepts and photographers.

Fortunately (after one more brief setback in mid-March - and the last I'm sure of it!) my seizures are now under control again thanks to a new medication, and I have the peace of mind of being a subway ride away from my awesome neurologists at the epilepsy clinic at Cornell-Weill. So with all that in mind...I'm excited to make the most of this summer and hope to hear from you!

☆ NEW HAIRSTYLE! For the better part of two years I have been growing out my "signature" pixie cut. As you can see from my updated profile pic (please bear with me while I work on getting pro-quality head shots - sorry!) my hair is currently slightly below jaw-length...I selected "Shoulder Length" in my stats because I thought I should emphasize the difference between this and the super short pixie style. My hair has a body wave, which is a type of loose perm, so the texture is slightly wavy. I can style it various ways, either with a curling iron or by air-drying it, depending on the nature of the shoot; I also plan to work with a hairstylist on an ongoing basis who will help me out with more elaborate styles.

Well that was fun! And now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

☆☆☆

Hi, I'm Pixie!

I work primarily in NYC while my home is in the beautiful Hudson Valley, approximately a 90 minute train ride from the city - but I am willing to travel to Philly (or further) for the right shoot so, just ask.

I genuinely enjoy the collaborative process and love being able to use my body and my physicality to create art in a very visceral way. In particular I have a background as a musician and in dance and gymnastics, which significantly influences the way I pose, act and emote. I also have a degree in journalism from NYU.

Though my tastes are eclectic, I'm drawn to the weird and awkward and I prefer working with photographers with an eye for the unusual. I like drama, attitude and emotional connection. Take a look at my list - it's a pretty good representation of what goes on my head at any given time. (And a good cheat sheet when I'm creatively blanking.)

Ground rules for implied, fine art or ropework nudes - keeping in mind that I make art, not porn:

• No unnecessary physical contact;
• No gratuitous XXX material (spread leg, etc);
• No sexualized language while we're shooting please.

I will not take on any project that does not have artistic merit, regardless of pay.

Also: no extrapolations. Please do not assume that because I am comfortable with Y, I will therefore be comfortable with Z. All limits are to be explicitly agreed upon ahead of time - not in a "oh, is that a problem?" fashion.

☆ PLEASE NOTE ☆

I have epilepsy. My seizures are well-controlled with meds and are not triggered by flash photography or any other stimuli.

I am still less than six months post-seizure, so I cannot drive, but I do make every effort to meet you on your own turf and can shoot anywhere that is accessible via public transportation (that includes bus, train, subway, rickshaw, etc). For more rural locations, I may need my travel costs covered or for you to make arrangements to meet me.

tl;dr: Hit me up and let's do something cool with a camera and stuff. xo
