The cloth over the eyes, deshumanising the subject, suggests a hostage situation, as do the arms (perhaps tied) behind the back, yet the expression on the left is disturbingly ecstatic. The sado-masochistic undertone, however, is complicated by the ordering of the pictures, the left-right progression making it seem as if she is gaining / regaining her clothing, dignity, and identity rather than having them taken away (thus implying that "the best" for which she is waiting is to emerge from this sexually-objectifying entrapment, fully realised as an individual).
September 23, 2009 3:12pm In a portfolio filled with amazingly unique and innovative work, it was hard to find some standout images to comment on. This struck me, mostly for its simplicity. Great shot :-)
