COLLABORATION REQUEST:
I'm compiling the freshest, most innovative images I can, amidst the literal tidal wave of infinite art/fashion photos that exist in our society. I'm doing this with a pre-conceived, cryptic narrative of morality that is released by the image itself then detonates in the individual viewer either immediately or later that day, week, month... but most often never actually detonates. Which is OK with me.. it wasn't meant for those who don't feel it.
I'm doing this with an ongoing series of shoots, some I've completed and some that I'm currently setting up. I'm sending you this with regard to the shoots I'm now putting together.
WHY:
I've been chosen to do a solo exhibit for the Arts Counsel of Frederick, Maryland, which is an incredible honor since Frederick is the most Art progressive city within 120 miles of here. The show is entitled "Fashion AS Art" and is being held Sept. 16 through Sept 19th, with a giant reception on the evening of Sept. 16th (I would imagine).
I already have quite a bit of coincidentally relevant work but want to create new images between now and then so that I can feature never before exhibited work as well.
The images I hope to do with you however would benefit both of us equally. I hope you'll help by collaborating with me.
If so, we should plan for a short studio session later this week, wed, thurs, or fri. The ideas are simple studio shots with you in color ranging from flesh to black, nothing lighter than your natural skin tone. (tights, stockings, shorts, pants, or any form fitting clothing.
(BELOW: These are the only commonly done images I need. They're for part of a larger project but want to try to get a few of these shots if we're going to be in the studio)
Many of the parts photos, meaning anonymous segments of curves and lines could be done (preferably) nude, in sepia tone shadows and soft pouring light, the nudity isn't in any way necessary and is completely dependent on your comfort level. Resulting images are to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye but 9 out of 10 people wouldn't guess what the image actually is and most folks would have trouble explaining exactly why they love the image. Any inferred nudity would be small segments and specific curves or lines of the body, never including your face. My goal with this type of image is to take small, unmistakably familiar & feminine body segments and do large format prints that are slow to be recognized, then all at once clear and obvious to the gallery visitors.
This shoot wouldn't take more than 40 minutes and could help us get familiar with one another professionally and add to the likelihood that we'll work together on paid assignments I get or future artistic endeavors that with any luck would compensate us monetarily.
These portraiture ideas will showcase your range of emotion, facial expression & reactions. For this I just engage you in funny, unnerving, shocking, sad, offensive and beautiful conversation. All as the camera shutter is clicking three times per second. (a photographer's technique I think I invented (at least my style) and I'm damn good at)
I also think your portfolio, though brilliant and beautiful, could use images that show you are comfortable in your skin and that prove your lack of inhibition in front of the camera. We can easily and quickly accomplish this with non-traditional, awkward and eye-catching poses. To achieve this I just bark out a series of odd tasks like (wait for a late bus,while picking dried nail polish off your fingers and sitting next to a guy who is arguing heatedly with insects) or (your boyfriend has someone else's lipstick on his shirt collar and an unreadable hand stamp on the back of his hand.) or (your appendix just burst while singing hymns in a church someone dragged you to against your will), or (
