First time I was in his waterfront studio in Seattle, I was covering Pres. Clinton and the APEC meeting. All the wives of the foreign dignitaries went to see Chihuly. When I learned he himself does NOT create art anymore, his students do. He hasn't since 1980's. So it was a treat to actually see, and photograph him actually work on a piece of glass. His movements of the glass, the long steel pipe, was like watching a great conductor direct an orchestra...
