The hand toying with the bra strap; not to mention the excitied, sprawling pose itself and her look of impassioned wonder, raise interesting possibilities about what sort of telephone conversation she is having. This suggestiveness, however, does not in any way diminish the adorable, playful atmosphere. There is a definitely a sense of teenage naivete budding into a sensual awakening, but it suffuses the shot with warmth and vitality. In contrast to the carefully stylised feminine images on the retro album covers around her, we get the sense that notwithstanding her efforts to emulate those attractive but rather passionless images, she is transcending them and becoming a fully realised, natural exemplar of feminine beauty and emotion.
