I am a professional photographer based in Jacksonville, Fl. Previously I had 25+ years experience in the newspaper industry before venturing onto a different career path in 2010. I now operate my own business shooting assignments for various editorial and commercial clients.

I consider myself a purist when it comes to producing images. I believe the most compelling and artistic imagery can be obtained in camera using knowledge of lighting techniques combined with available light. The models themselves create the moments that make a photograph captivating.

I do utilize photo editing software to crop, remove spots, lighten or darken images or to add or remove contrast. The same techniques we formally used in the darkroom printing images. It is not my style to remove models or elements from an image and transpose them onto a different background. To be honest I do not possess that level of Photoshop skill.

I have experimented with new-fangled (is that a word?) filters in Lightroom however I feel that is not my cup of tea. I believe my own images should stand on their own merits without the use of a filter to heighten the visual interest of a picture.

And if your eyes are not already bleeding from reading all this....I do appreciate the many forms of photographic art. I especially envy the digital artists and their creative talent to transform bits of visual imagery into masterpieces of elaborate works of mainstream art. As well as the classic human form shooters still working in the medium of black and white.

And I like cinnamon toast and peanut butter milkshakes.
