About Me
BLOG: http://risamakeupartist.wordpress.com
You heard of the story where a child goes into their mother's makeup drawer and ruins her expensive lipsticks and shadows. The story ends with the mother yelling and the child crying. In my case, it was a little different. I remember being four years old and sitting in front of my mother's vanity (on the floor because we lived in Japan) and watching her carefully apply her Estee Lauder foundation, Guerlain powder, Yves Saint Laurent shadows, Dior blush, and finishing off with a Chanel lipstick. She would then spray her Tiffany perfume on herself and me, put a little dab of Chanel lipstick which would make me giggle with joy, then brush my hair. At a tender age of four, my mother taught me one of the most exciting parts of being a woman, makeup. Growing up, I was always intrigued by color. For Christmas and birthdays I always asked for things with color. One year it was one of those Costco sized box of Crayolas, another year it was a packet of Fimo clay. My ultimate favorite gift came to me when I was five and it was a Caboodle filled with children makeup. From that day on, I was inviting my friends over and painting their faces. When I was all "grown up," I had no idea what to do. I knew I had to choose a profession and go for it. I kept changing my major and I never knew what I really wanted. I then realized there is one thing I've always loved and that is makeup. That was when I decided to start working in the makeup industry. People ask me when did you start doing this (makeup)? I guess my answer is my whole life. I have been using my friends' faces as a canvas for my art (BTW, you all know who you are, and thank you. And sorry, little bro). ![]() If you want to know my work experience, here I go: '09-Present: Freelance Hair & Makeup Artist in Tokyo, JP; agency ESENCIA '06-'09: Regional Artist for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics '06: Counter Manager/MUA for N Style Cosmetics (Urban Decay, Too Faced, Tarte, Du Wop, Hard Candy, TINte) '05-'06: Counter Manager/MUA for Urban Decay/Hard Candy '04-'05: Sephora MUA '99-'04: Freelance I got extensive training from various makeup lines listed above. My style is very versatile. I can do artistic looks and natural everyday looks as well. I know what makeup looks good with natural light versus flash photography, I can match skin tones that are "impossible" to match (there is no such thing as impossible skin tones). I have kits pre-made for specific jobs. For instance, I use mostly Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier for weddings. I save my crazy fun color stuff like Urban Decay and MAC for photo shoots. I will travel if expense is payed with at least two week notice. I am doing very limited TFP/TFCD. Please send me a message if you have an idea that might enhance with my help. Otherwise, thanks for visiting my page and let's have some fun! xoxo, RISA ![]() Photo: Riedel Photography/Model: JessC 東京で活動させていただいています。宜しくお願いいたします! ー星野里沙 Verified Credits (0)Worked with Risa Hoshino?
