Where to start? The journey has been a long one and looking back seems more important than the destination. But it's principally a journey of love. The joy of making beautiful images and bringing joy to others. You will  judge my success. You might gather I don't do horror/gore/bondage styles. I want images that uplift: not  confront or can be seen as exploitative.

I am principally a landscape photographer and hope that it shows in my portfolio. While I do dabble in the studio I am happiest shooting on location. The studio is too sterile! Throw the lighting and weather challenges my way any day. Always different and rarely predictable. When it works it's fantastic!

My current themes are an interest in edgy fashion, 30's - 40's glamour styles that combine outfits and styling typical of the era and burlesque styling also of interest. Experimenting with tasteful lingerie, dabbling with tasteful fetish styles also is an interest. Landscape art-nudes remain (to me) the 'purist form' of photographic artistic expression. Am cautious when models tell me they're "reliable" and "professional". Please don't tell me ... just show me.

Now having said that  I would like to thank the wonderful models who have worked with me to make this portfolio possible. I am very indebted to you all. Without you I am back to a pure landscape and railway photographer ..

My interest in photography grew from a love of landscape and railways. My dad gave me an old Zeiss Ikon 6x9 cm folding bellows camera that I still have today. Am more or less self taught through years of personal study and experimentation with medium format film cameras. A physics degree (minor in chemistry) helped too. Graduated the traditional route of wedding photography with all the pressures of waiting 24 hrs to see the proofs .. long after the wedding was over, and too late to re-shoot. This, together with my use of medium format cameras imposed a regime of 'getting it right' in-camera. I retain the methodical shooting techniques honed over a couple of decades (or more!).

However I've now been seduced by the ease of digital technology and have largely exchanged the smelly and lonely darkroom for the lightroom. However I don't shoot the digital scatter-gun approach that relies on percentages and editing software to clean up the mess!


(My) 'Terms of Engagement' are simple really. You work for my portfolio .. I pay you. I shoot for your portfolio .. you pay me. Yes, you read correctly ..  We shoot for each others portfolios .. we share costs. It's called 'TF' & seems fair to me. This is a community of artists who should be uplifting each other. We each bring expertise:  talent and costs to a shoot. I am not interested in paying you to build your portfolio alone. This attitude seems far too common on this site.

Maybe I will hear from a select few of you ... Oh, and I ignore most 'drive-by' Friend requests .. especially if you have hundreds of "Friends" already. You don't need, or will remember me! To take you seriously I need to see you TAG, Comment or PM me first.

To all traveling models who contact me I assume that you like and value my work and are offering your services TFP on a win-win basis.
