About Me
Hi,
My name is Jeff and I have been a professional photographer, with my own studio, for 22 years now. I graduated from the Art Center College of Design. After graduating, I assisted a few really great photographers in L.A, such as Herb Ritts and Max Vadukul. My main focus on my photography is lighting the subject as well as I can. I first get an idea in my head on how I want the mood to be and I set my lights that best conveys that mood. I see many photos that could be enhanced by maybe using one spot light to highlight maybe the person's eyes. Many people claim to be photographers, but not too many use more than 1-2 lights to light their subject. Now, unless the model is drop dead gorgeous, this could work! But most the time it doesn't work out that way. Anyone can take a good picture if there is a hot looking person in front of their lens, right? In that case, it is because of the model. Next, I decide what the set should look like and what the model should be wearing(or not). If he/she is wearing clothes, then make the set and/or clothes interesting, so if the model isn't, at least the others are. If there are no clothes, do something with the model to give him/her character and definitely try something new with lighting. Even doing something as simple as gelling their hair in an odd manner will evoke some emotion in the photograph. Lastly, picking the right model for the part is essential. sometimes blondes work better than darker hair or short hair works better than long. I try my best to fit the model with the rest of the make up of the final image. Their physique is crucial, if there is any implied or full nudity. Anyone with less than a 6 pack of abs doesn't quite fit the criteria, in my book. Of course that doesn't go for the girls. I truly believe that implied nudity is sexier than showing it all and that less is really more. Most importantly, I make the lighting set the tone of the photograph. I am always looking for models to collaborate with and create an image that we will respect and proud to be a part of until our last days here on earth. If you are in my area and feel like we are a good match and want a free photo shoot, feel free to contact me and let's give it all we got!
