The many talented models and photographers on MM make it hard to feel like one has something to add to the mix, but everyone's vision is unique.  Photography offers a path many can follow and achieve some level of artistic expression.  Dedication and determination help any photographer to perfect the technical and artistic aspects of the medium.  I hope I can find some fellow photographers and models who will share the goal of seeking to draw closer to creating more perfect images that will speak to the viewer.  If you are interested let me hear from you.


For those who wonder about the meaning of "verdigris", it is the blue-green coating or patina that forms on objects made of copper containing alloys such as brass or bronze or even pure copper.  Another way of looking at it is as the patina that requires time and experience to develop and that imparts interest and richness.....like life experience does for an artist/photographer.

When I was 10 my mother gave me a Ricoh rangefinder camera and it's been Snap! Snap! Snap! ever since. After 30 yrs of nature photography using a Olympus OM-1 totally manual film camera, I started to pursue a more elusive subject, the photographic model. It's been quite a journey over 50 years of self-instruction and exploration. Starting in backwoods West Monroe in North Louisiana, which still resonates in my accent, I now find myself in cosmopolitan New Orleans enjoying the full richness of Louisiana's heritage. Lucky to have had parents who encouraged my eclectic interests in science, nature, things mechanical, art, reading, not much escapes my interest. One might think that as a chemist I'd be totally left-brained, but I found while in grad school at Duke, that my interests lay in both the logical and the random, the analytic and the synthetic, the linear and the intuitive. Rather than planning out a shoot like a left-brainer, I like to start with nothing and look for something, and it always appears. I experiment but I focus on similarities rather than differences, patterns and connections. This ability to find connections sometimes makes my thinking elusive to those around me. It also lets me see beauty where others do not find it. My shoots aren't planned and structured but rather they are spontaneous and fluid. If I have a specific purpose for the shoot, I do have a considered approach, but I always leave room for the unexpected.
